About the Friends
Formed in 1990 by local citizens, the Friends is a non-profit volunteer and membership organization that supports and enhances the value of the Boca Raton Public Library as it serves our community.
The Friends raise funds for major library projects, such as the library’s bookmobile for outreach to underserved communities in Boca Raton, the AWE Early Literacy Stations in both the downtown Boca Raton Public Library and the Spanish River Library, and the award-winning Storywalk trails at public parks.
We donate books from our bookstore to stock bookshelves at community centers, the seven Little Free Libraries run by the Boca Raton Public Library in public parks, and the Junior League of Boca Raton's Little Free Libraries in Title I Schools.
Every year, we contribute funding to the library’s annual summer reading program, and we continue to provide funding for library special programs, including literacy backpacks, online databases, and book clubs for all ages.
We raise funds through membership dues, donations, and bookstore sales.
